Gibson Summer Jam 2008 and NAMM show

Shamoopie and I just got back from the Gibson Summer Jam 2008 and NAMM show held in Nashville, TN. Gibson used to have a great show and now it seems like a feeble excuse to keep people away from the NAMM show downtown. They didn't need to try very hard.

The NAMM show was a bust. Usually there are lots of great new things to see. Not so this year. Usually there are lots of things to make fun of. Like a keytar is was just a great thing to mock. Did we have a keytar like instrument at NAMM. NO! Nothing that unusual. Did we have any cool SWAG this year. NO! Wheat guitar picks, that was the SWAG. No tshirts or cables or software or bumper stickers. Just Wheat Guitar PICKS. Then Gibson wanted me to buy a special NAMM guitar for $3800. Not if I am paying $20 for a tshirt buddy and $50 for a golf shirt. Sell that shit to Dr. Katz, he can't play guitar anyway.

So my conclusion is that the industry is hurting. Hurting from the economy and food prices and gas prices and the internet bubble burst and the Canadians running hollywood. Truthfully, look at how many of todays stars are from Canada. I blame the Canadians for their dollars being worth so much. It obviously has screwed up the NAMM show and the Gibson party. It's has a ripple affect across the globe. Next thing you know there will only be Wheat Guitar Picks and Keytars. No more NAMM show and no more Gibson. Let's stop the madness now and go back to the way it was before. First thing we do is deport all the Canadians and give each one a Keytar and a Wheat guitar pick as they leave. Then we bring back the SWAG and limit who can go to these shows. Druckin grandmas in faux leopard prints should not be going to these shows. Drunkin grandma didn't even clean up her speed taco mess. She just piled it up in front of the blad dude and left. He wasn't even with her or her party.

That should solve the problem. Remember this is coming from the guy who's dog is NAMED Gibson.

I will be at the Jean Larrivee booth, he is a cool dude. The Eastman guys were also very nice to us. :)
